Baltimore resident Tiffany Green has seen the path to her future — and it runs through the Excel Center, a new tuition-free adult high school being developed by Goodwill Industries of the Chesapeake in downtown Baltimore.

In an inspiring TikTok video, Tiffany not only shared her spiritual motivation for pursuing a high school diploma through the Excel Center. She also encouraged others to “walk in purpose” as they define it themselves rather than how others might define it for them.

Not only can Baltimore residents 21 years of age and older earn a free high school diploma at the Excel Center, the Center will also offer on-site child care and transportation assistance.

The high school education provided by the Excel Center is flexible and accelerated. The actual time it takes to complete the experience is different for each student. On average, it takes most Excel Center students three years to earn the credits needed for their high school diploma. But some can finish sooner, depending in part on how many high school credits they already had before beginning the program.

“I feel joyous because this was a long time coming for me,” Tiffany said. “This gives me the opportunity to start my motivational speaking. This gives me the opportunity to stand on a platform not just for myself but for others. This is the start of a new beginning for me, with speaking in front of people.”

Tiffany spoke about feeling “elated, happy, and joyous” as she embraces her new path. “God has given me the opportunity to not only speak but to be heard. And not only to be heard, but to live in my purpose,” she said. “I’m excited. I’m grateful. New beginnings are coming. They have already started.”

She also cautioned people from getting discouraged. “Don’t think that because it didn’t happen today, it won’t happen tomorrow,” she said. “Be encouraged when you don’t feel encouraged. Make yourself feel love when you don’t feel loved.”

Baltimore’s Excel Center will be the newest in the nation when it opens this September. There are numerous other centers around the U.S., and they have proven to be a very successful way for adults to get their high school diploma. Having a diploma enables people to get better jobs and build a better life for themselves.

As Tiffany advises: “Don’t get comfortable with good. Set yourself up for great.”
