This Privacy Policy pertains only to Goodwill Industries of the Chesapeake, Inc. (referred to as “we”), whose administrative headquarters is located at 3700 Koppers St, Suite 200, Baltimore, MD 21227.

This Privacy Policy includes all aspect of our organizational activities, including (but not limited to):

  • Contract partnerships with any business, government agency, or human services agency
  • Human services relevant to our mission as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. Referred to as “support services.”
  • Retail operations involving any or all of our store locations and E-commerce websites
  • Marketing, public relations, or advertising

What information is collected

This Privacy Policy covers all data collected through any of our Activities and may include:

  • Name
  • E-mail address
  • Date of birth
  • Mailing address
  • Phone number
  • Credit card information
  • All other personal information requested (for job applications, etc.)

Information is generally collected by your voluntary submission but may be obtained automatically.

Cookies

A cookie is a small data file that is written to your computer’s hard drive by your web browser. Log Files

The website’s web servers log information about a user’s IP address, browser type and the current URL the user is requesting. This information is always provided by a user’s browser and automatically logged by most websites. These log files are stored in a secure location and used in our internal analysis of traffic patterns within our website.

How we use your data

We only collect data relevant to the Activities we conduct.  Data we collect may be used for any or all of the following purposes:

  • Applications for Employment – to consider applicant qualifications, experience and references for employment opportunities.
  • Customer Service – when responses are provided to requests for information about our organization, replies to customer complaints and/or feedback.
  • Customer Engagement – when advertising, public relations or marketing materials are created to promote active engagement by the people or organizations we serve. This may involve the use or publication of consumer-generated content.
  • Email Subscriptions – to create and maintain email account subscriptions that provide requested information from our organization
  • Orders – to process and ship orders from our E-commerce websites which include but may not be limited to: www.shopgoodwill.com
  • Support Services – to consider applications and all communication related to recipients of support services described by (but not limited to) our website at https://goodwillches.org/
  • As Required by Law – to comply with a subpoena or in the good faith belief that such is necessary to conform to the edicts of the law, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud or comply with a judicial proceeding, court order, or legal process served on us.

Parties with whom we may share your data

We may share your information in the following way:

  • Service Providers – We may share your information with third-party organizations that help us provide the service or services to you. Our Service Providers will be given access to your information as is reasonably necessary to provide the service under reasonable confidentiality terms. If this activity is related to our support services, all information will be subject to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).
  • Third-Party Advertising Partners – We may also share certain information such as cookie data, your name, e-mail address, postal address, and phone number with third-party advertising partners. This information would allow third-party ad networks to, among other things, deliver targeted advertisements they believe will be of most interest to you.

Your Legal Rights:

This Privacy Policy is intended to comply with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 (the “General Data Protection Regulation” or “GDPR”) and provide appropriate protection and care with respect to the treatment of your user information in accordance with the GDPR.

Right to access: You have the right to request information about the personal data we hold on you at any time. You can contact us and we will provide you with your personal data.

Right to portability: Whenever we process your personal data by automated means based on your consent or based on an agreement you have the right to get a copy of your data in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format transferred to you or to another party. This only includes the personal data you have submitted to us.

Right to rectification: You have the right to request rectification of your personal data if it is incorrect, including the right to have incomplete personal data completed. If you have an account you can edit your personal data under your account pages.

Right to erasure: You have the right to erase any personal data processed by us at any time except for the following situations:

  • you have an ongoing matter with Customer Service.
  • you have an open order which has not yet been shipped or partially shipped
  • you have an unsettled debt with us, regardless of the payment method
  • if you are suspected or have misused our services within the last four years
  • your debt has been sold to a third party within the last three years or one year for deceased customers
  • your credit application has been rejected within the last three months
  • if you have made any purchase, we will keep your personal data in connection to your transaction for bookkeeping rules

Your right to object to processing based on legitimate interest: You have the right to object to processing of your personal data that you believe is not based on our legitimate interest. We will suspend processing of the personal data unless we can demonstrate a legitimate ground for the process which overrides your interest and rights or due to legal claims.

Right to restriction: You have the right to request that we restrict the processing of your personal data under the following circumstances:

  • if you object to a processing based on our legitimate interest, we shall suspend all processing of such data pending the verification of the legitimate interest.
  • if you claim that your personal data is incorrect, we will restrict all processing of such data pending the verification of the accuracy of the personal data.
  • if the processing is unlawful you can oppose the erasure of personal data and instead request the restriction of the use of your personal data instead
  • if we no longer need the personal data but it is required for you to make of defending legal claims.
